Language: Hawaii Aloha

"Hawai'i Aloha" was composed by the Reverend Lorenzo Lyons or "Makua Laiana". Laiana was ordained as a Congregationalist minister at Auburn Seminary, on Sept. 20, 1831. He embarked from New Bedford, Ma. on Nov. 26, 1831 and arrived in the South Kohala district of the island of Hawai‘i in 1832. Laiana became pastor of Imiola Church in Waimea, Hawaii, where Keola's grandparents are buried. He spent the remainder of his life dedicated to native Hawaiians. Fluent in the Hawaiian language, he composed many poems and hymns; his best known and beloved work is the hymn "Hawai'i Aloha".
